Energy - Reliable Data Transfer Solutions For Automation

Overview

An electricity company dedicated to providing quality, reliable, and safe electricity services to support socio-economic growth is tackling the challenge of building power plants in remote areas. They are installing advanced equipment such as switchgear and RTU control panels to meet users' electricity needs.

Challenge

The customer requires an industrial-grade cellular router to transfer data from Alstom RTUs to a SCADA control system. The router must support IEC101-IEC104, DNP3, and Modbus protocols.

Key Requirements for Substation Automation:

  • Durable Design: Must operate reliably in humid and extreme temperature conditions.
  • Enhanced Features: Support for IEC101-IEC104, DNP3, and Modbus protocols.
  • Secure Service: Provide reliable and secure data transmission for real-time monitoring of remote RTUs.

Solution

Winsonic offers a cost-effective 3G/4G solution with industrial-grade advantages. The NE2204-440 router can operate stably in high-temperature environments, such as outdoor reclosers and sectionalizers. RTUs are connected to the NE2204-440 via Ethernet or serial ports, and data is collected and transmitted to the SCADA control system. The NE2204-440 then sends this data to the control monitoring center via cellular technology.

Solution Advantages:

  • Cost Savings: Winsonic's NE2204-440 enables real-time monitoring, quick fault response, and preventive maintenance planning, significantly reducing labor and costs.
  • Multiple Industrial Interfaces for Alstom RTUs: The NE2204-440 includes 4 Ethernet ports, RS232, and RS485 interfaces for Serial to IP communication, plus digital inputs and outputs for connecting RTUs.
  • Reliable Communication: The NE2204-440 provides low-latency communication and dual SIM capabilities for network redundancy.
  • Adaptability to Harsh Conditions: Its robust design ensures continuous connectivity and remote access, even in challenging environments.
