Smart City - Smart Traffic Management System
Overview
The end user is a governmental organization responsible for transportation planning, public transportation operations, urban parking management, and traffic monitoring centers. In some rural areas, the absence of fiber optics makes it difficult to collect data from traffic light controllers. As a result, 3G/4G technology is becoming increasingly popular in these regions.
Challenge
With the growing demand for transportation, more rural areas need 3G/4G industrial routers to gather data from traffic light controllers and transmit it to SCADA control centers. This ensures that the Traffic Light System functions efficiently and reliably.
Key Needs for Smart Gaming Machine:
- Durable Design: Must perform reliably in harsh environments with high humidity and extreme temperatures.
- Advanced Features: Support for OpenVPN and DMVPN.
- Industrial Interfaces: Ethernet ports and RS485.
Solution
In this application, the NE2204-440 router ensures reliable, low-latency communication over a 4G network and establishes VPN tunnels (OpenVPN/DMVPN) with the central VPN server. This setup allows the center's computers to remotely access the traffic control system via the VPN network. The SCADA Center reads data from the controller connected to the NE2204-440's RS485 interface.
Solution Advantages:
- Cost Savings: Winsonic’s NE2204-440 enables engineers to monitor real-time machine operations, respond quickly to faults, and plan preventive maintenance, significantly reducing manpower and costs.
- Reliable Network Communication: The NE2204-440 router provides dependable, low-latency communication between machines and the center. Its dual SIM capabilities offer redundancy by switching between different 4G mobile data carriers.
- Operation in Harsh Environments: The NE2204-440 router's robust design, with high EMC levels, ensures all equipment remains connected and accessible online for remote visitors, even in challenging conditions.
- Multiple Industrial Interfaces: The NE2204-440 router features 2 Ethernet ports, 1 RS232 port, and 1 RS485 port, supporting Serial to IP communication. It also includes 2 digital inputs and 2 digital outputs for sensor connections.
